Recovered paper prices 

 

News & PAM prices have recovered in the past few months and currently stand at around £97.50 per tonne, having started the year at around £100 per tonne.  OCC also saw improvement and prices had risen to £90 per tonne in early July. .  Mixed paper and board prices have risen over the past few months from around £10 per tonne to over £30 per tonne. . UK / Trade  

UK exports of recovered paper stood at 365kt in June 2018, around 70kt less than levels seen 12 months prior. Exports have fluctuated throughout the year, peaking   at 438kt in March 2018. 

UK mill usage of recovered paper was estimated at 264kt in May 2018, 10kt more than usage seen 12 months previously.

 

Paper PRN prices

 

Paper PRN prices traded at just under £9 per tonne in June 2018. They have seen substantial growth over the past few months, having started the year at £1.50 per tonne. 

Total paper packaging recycling totalled 285kt in Q2 2018, an increase of over 30kt on the previous quarter and almost 40kt more than the same quarter of the previous year. Exports of paper packaging   increased by 61kt to 647kt while UK reprocessing declined to 305kt.

 

Pulp

Pulp prices continued to rise, reaching £878 per tonne in June.
